Eight kilometers north of the Blue Hole, this dive site isn’t easy to reach by road. In the past, visitors traveled by camel, but now Bedouins have switched to small speedboats. The trip begins with a drive to the Blue Hole, where you’ll meet the boat. It takes about 20 minutes to sail to Abu Galum, a reserve that spans 400 square kilometers of land and sea. It was declared a protected area in 1992.

The area boasts around six dive sites. Depending on conditions, all are great for snorkelers and divers, whether novice or advanced.
The site features a stunning hard coral plateau in the shallows and pristine corals throughout the dive. Unique rock formations and large pinnacles serve as cleaning stations, attracting turtles, barracuda, and often eagle rays. You can explore a huge variety of marine life here. The northern part of the site is known for its beautiful coral gardens.

If one day isn’t enough, consider spending the night. Ras Abu Galum offers night dives in this amazing area, along with an evening meal cooked by the Bedouins. Abu Galum is definitely a hidden gem not to be missed.
