The trip starts with a drive to the Blue Hole to meet the boat and a sail of about 20 mins to Abu Galum, the reserve stretches across 400 sq km of land and sea and was declared a protected area in 1992.
The area has about 6 different dive sites and depending on the conditions all can be perfect for snorkelers, novice or advanced divers.
The dive site has a beautiful hard coral plateau in the shallows with pristine corals throughout the dive, the unique rock formations and large pinnacles act as cleaning stations bringing in turtles, barracuda and often eagle rays. There is a huge a variety of marine life which can be explored here. The northern part of the site is famous for its coral gardens.
If one day is not enough for you here then consider spending the night, Ras Abu Galum, night dives can be done in this spectacular area and enjoy an evening meal cooked for you by the Bedouins.
